Thoughtless words
Spill out of my mouth
Like so much drool,
Dribbling down my chin
Puddling on the ground
My chin
My clothes.
Once out,
They stick to me and
Won't let others forget
What I said
That was cruel.

Words that cannot
Be taken back,
They dry and leave a mark.
Like the tears they sometimes cause
Running in rivulets down the face,
I hold my tongue to keep it From wagging idly.
Best to just
Keep
my
Mouth
Shut.
